Duke forward Rodney Hood officially declared for the NBA Draft on Friday.
He's expected to be a first-round pick.
Hood started his college career at Mississippi State, then transferred to Duke after Rick Stansbury was forced out of Starkville after the 2011-12 season. The 6-foot-8 Mississippi native sat out last season per NCAA transfer rules. He then averaged 16.1 points this season while shooting 46.4 percent from the field and 42.0 percent from 3-point range.
This development means Duke will lose two underclassmen from a 26-win team, the other being freshman Jabari Parker, a likely top-three pick in the NBA Draft. Still, the Blue Devils are ranked No. 1 in the Ridiculously Early Preseason Top 25 (and one) thanks to, among other things, the expected enrollment of freshmen Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones.
